Founder of the firm in 1996. Firas has advised international energy companies, government entities and diplomatic missions on their most consequential matters in Jordan, across international arbitration, complex civil litigation and regulatory engagement.

With nearly three decades of legal experience, Firas Al-Ta’amneh leads Taamneh & Partners with a commitment to justice, excellence and impact. A formidable litigator and trusted adviser, he has represented multinational corporations, government institutions and high-profile clients in complex disputes. His courtroom advocacy, strategic foresight and client-focused representation form the foundation of the firm’s reputation as one of Jordan’s most respected legal institutions.

Firas is widely recognised for his understanding of civil, commercial, corporate and employment law, as well as regulatory compliance and litigation. His negotiation and legal drafting have set a benchmark for legal practice in the region. Under his leadership, the firm has grown into a hub for tailored legal solutions serving prominent clients.

International Practice

Beyond the courtroom, Firas has served as chief legal representative for several embassies in Jordan, providing full-spectrum counsel and court representation to protect the rights of migrant workers. His advocacy in these roles influenced both individual case outcomes and broader diplomatic strategy concerning migrant protection.

A recognised authority in international labour standards, he has worked extensively with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the Migration Policy Institute in Washington. He served as legal consultant to the UAE Ministry of Labour, where he led the drafting of new laws regulating private recruitment agencies and aligning UAE labour legislation with international standards.

He managed the ILO’s flagship project “Eliminating Forced Labour and Trafficking in Jordan”, implemented in coordination with the Jordanian Ministries of Justice, Interior and Labour. His leadership in that programme culminated in the adoption of Jordan’s National Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking and Forced Labour. He continues to advise on law enforcement, compliance mechanisms and institutional development in labour regulation.

Legislative and Academic Work

Firas has contributed to numerous legal reforms by drafting and reviewing legislation concerning employment agencies, standard labour contracts, human rights protections and anti-trafficking measures in Jordan and abroad. As a certified trainer, he has trained hundreds of judges, prosecutors, labour inspectors and police officers. He participated in the UN High-Level Dialogue on Migration and Development, and contributed to the design of Jordan’s human trafficking mitigation programmes.

He is a prolific legal writer, having published studies and papers with the ILO, UNIFEM and other regional and international bodies. His publications focus on legal reform, migrant rights, labour law enforcement and occupational safety, including Work Permits of Migrant Workers in Jordan and Law and Practice on International Labor Migration: Jordan — A Case Study.
